LAST week’s political machinations do nothing to make me feel that ordinary people are being heard.
It appears that all the major political parties are concerned about is point scoring off each other or vying for the top job.
When are politicians going to realise that voters want them to focus on the actual issues affecting them and the broader community?
Living in Indi, which has been a safe Liberal seat for more than 30 years, we have languished in the backwater, being ignored because effectively our votes don’t count.
The Liberal Party takes it for granted and the Labor Party does not take it seriously.
It seems to me that the only electorates that get any attention are the ones with a swinging seat or an independent member.
Now is the time to make our voice heard by voting for a quality independent candidate such as Cathy McGowan.
You only have to look at the great improvements made by independents Rob Oakeshott and Tony Windsor, in their electorates, to see that you need real local representation to make a difference.
